Professional and personalized hearing care – that is our commitment to our patients. We evaluate and treat hearing loss focusing on individual needs, so that everyone is given the opportunity to communicate and interact with others to the best of their ability, resulting in a better quality of life.

Doctors Hearing Care offers comprehensive hearing aid services  We can accurately determine the listening environments that are particularly problematic for you and develop a treatment plan specifically tailored to your individual hearing needs.

Hearing Aid Selection

There are many different types of hearing instruments. They come in different shapes, sizes, colors, and technology levels. There is no one “best” hearing instrument. The best hearing aid for each person is determined by the type and degree of hearing loss, ear anatomy, listening needs, finger dexterity, visual acuity, and budget.

At Doctors Hearing Care, hearing aid selection plays an integral part of our hearing aid services. We see to it that the hearing aid selection process is easier for you by customizing the options based on your specific hearing needs.

Hearing Aid Fitting

During hearing aid fitting, the hearing aids will be tested to make sure that the softer sounds are louder and that any of the louder sounds are set at a level that the patient will be comfortable with.

Doctors Hearing Care practices real ear measurements, a verification process where a thin tube will be placed in the ear canal to see how well the hearing aid works.

Hearing Aid Programming and Adjustments

During this step, audiologists will ensure that the hearing aid is calibrated based on the hearing tests. While various hearing aid brands have their own dedicated apps for users to easily adjust their devices, there is another level of hearing aid programming and adjustment that only audiologists can provide.

This type of hearing aid programming requires dedicated hardware, software, and expertise that only years of training and experience can provide.

Real ear measurements

Measuring the sound pressure levels in a patient’s ear canal is called real ear measurement. This is done by inserting a probe tube into the ear canal while the hearing aid is also inside. This measures how loud a hearing aid is across a wide range of frequencies and pitches.

Why is a real ear measurement important?

Hearing loss is unique for each person. That’s why it’s important to have a hearing aid that is customized for you. The hearing aid manufacturer will only design and program the device based on one size and shape.

That’s where audiologists come in. We will adjust and program the device based on your individual hearing loss, as shown by your audiogram or hearing test results.

Hearing Aid Repairs

No matter how well you take care of your hearing aids and how often you maintain them, they will eventually wear out from normal use.

If your hearing aid is old or not working well, we may be able to fix it. We can replace the receiver or wax guard if it is broken. Our audiologists will help you figure out if your hearing aid can be fixed or needs to be replaced.

Below are our specific hearing aid services at Doctors Hearing Care:

  • Battery replacement
  • Remove and reinsert your hearing aid
  • Professional hearing aid cleaning
  • Wax filter replacement
  • Troubleshooting and checking your device’s input settings

How Much Do Hearing Aid Repairs Cost?

The cost to fix a broken or damaged hearing aid can vary depending on the situation. If the hearing aid is still under warranty, the cost might be lower. If the device is damaged, it might cost more to replace parts.

If you have a warranty on your hearing system, the cost of repairs will likely be minimal. If you don’t have a warranty, the cost of repairs may be more expensive. Cracked shells on custom-molded devices can be expensive to fix, but sometimes they can be repaired. Hearing aid repairs can cost anywhere from $20 for a minor, in-office repair to $350 for an out-of-warranty repair done by the manufacturer.

When Is Your Hearing Aid Beyond Repair?

If your hearing aids are damaged, you should go to a hearing aid expert to have them fixed. Your hearing aids may be beyond repair if:

  • Your hearing aids are more than five years old. It might be time to buy new ones because the repairs might add up.
  • The damage(s) is visible or if the device has some cracks or wires/parts hanging out.
  • Your hearing aids have had a lot of repairs. Just like a car that has been in a lot of accidents, if your hearing aids require frequent repairs, it might not be worth the money. Economically wise, it might be better to get new hearing aids.

If you are experiencing any problems with your hearing aids, please contact us. Our experienced staff is happy to assist you in getting your devices back in working order. We can also help you determine what options are available to fix your broken hearing device.

Doctors Hearing Care Protection Plus

If you enroll in this program, your hearing system will be covered for repair/replacement if the devices are lost or accidentally damaged.
